The Courtyard of Miracles draws from Sofia's past childhood.  He seeks to create the courtyard/playground experiences through the eyes of a child when fantasy, "miracles," is more the promising reality  inspiring  children to play with abandon, shaping dreams that may one day be reality, fashioning future adult personalities to deal with the world and society.
